Is GoGrip actually chalk, or something different?
GoGrip is a liquid grip enhancer designed to boost traction and control during pole dance, aerial, calisthenics, or gym workouts. Unlike traditional powdered chalk made from magnesium carbonate, GoGrip’s active ingredient is silica (silicon dioxide) – a skin-friendly mineral also used in cosmetics. It performs a similar function by improving your grip and reducing hand slippage, but it works in a much gentler way. Silica has a microporous texture that absorbs sweat and excess moisture without over-drying the skin. It leaves a thin, matte layer that feels clean, smooth, and non-sticky – perfect for frequent training and for dancers with normal or mildly sweaty hands. In contrast, magnesium carbonate (classic chalk) draws out moisture aggressively, which makes it ideal for very sweaty palms, but it can also dry out and irritate the skin, causing cracks and white residue on your hands, pole, or clothes. In short: GoGrip is a gentler, cleaner, and more versatile alternative to chalk – perfect for regular pole or aerial training. Classic chalk is better suited for extremely sweaty hands or heavy-duty use.

How should I apply GoGrip and how much should I use?
Use GoGrip on clean, dry hands before training or warm-up. Apply just a few drops – a little goes a long way. Rub it evenly over your palms and let it dry for a few seconds. Avoid applying too much, as an excessive layer can feel sticky and reduce grip efficiency. During your pole or aerial session, you can reapply a thin layer as needed, or wash your hands and start fresh. Many athletes also combine GoGrip with liquid chalk or sticky grips for a custom hold depending on humidity and personal skin type.
-
Does GoGrip leave white marks on hands, clothes, or the pole?
Not really! GoGrip is much cleaner than traditional chalk. It leaves only a slight matte film on your skin – barely visible – and a light trace on the pole that can easily be wiped off with isopropyl alcohol or pole cleaner. Any marks on clothing are minimal and far less noticeable than the dust from powdered chalk.
-
How long does GoGrip last during training? Do I need to reapply it?
It depends on your skin type and training intensity. For most people with moderately sweaty hands, one application lasts an entire session. However, if you have very sweaty palms, the silica in GoGrip can become saturated after some time – like a sponge that’s full. In that case, wash your hands, dry them thoroughly, and reapply a small amount to restore full grip power. For maximum hold, especially in hot or humid conditions, try layering GoGrip with liquid chalk – it gives a stronger, longer-lasting grip effect.
-
Is GoGrip safe for the skin? Can it dry or irritate the hands?
Yes, GoGrip is safe and skin-friendly. Silica is a neutral, natural ingredient used even in skincare products. The formula also includes alcohol, which helps it dry quickly on the skin. While most users experience no irritation, people with sensitive skin might notice mild dryness. To keep your hands in top condition, we recommend washing them after training and applying a moisturizing cream with urea or natural oils to restore hydration and prevent cracks – especially if you train often.
-
Can I combine GoGrip with other grips or chalks?
Absolutely. Many pole dancers and aerial athletes layer grip products to create the perfect texture.
The best method is to apply a thin base layer of GoGrip first, and then, if you need stronger grip during class, add a liquid chalk or resin-based product (like Monkey Grip or similar). Every skin type reacts differently, so feel free to experiment and find your ideal combo for different conditions (humid days, cold poles, high-intensity tricks, etc.). -
How long does one bottle of GoGrip last?
With regular use (2–3 times per week), a 60 ml bottle lasts around 2–3 months. You don’t need much – a few drops per training session are enough. Applying too much won’t improve performance; instead, it might make your hands feel slippery. Silica works best in a thin, even layer that lightly absorbs sweat while keeping your hands smooth and secure.
-
How should I clean my hands and pole after training?
After your session, wash your hands with soap and water, then apply a hydrating hand cream with urea or natural oils to repair and protect your skin. Always clean your pole after use – the best solution is a 50/50 mix of water and isopropyl alcohol. It removes grip residues and keeps the surface hygienic and ready for the next session.
-
Is GoGrip good for sweaty hands?
Yes, GoGrip is perfect for light to moderate hand sweating. If you experience excessive sweating, you may prefer traditional magnesium carbonate chalk, which offers stronger drying. However, chalk can over-dry the skin, creating the worst possible mix of sweat and flakiness. To avoid this, always moisturize after training, regardless of which grip product you use. If your chalk stops working effectively, it may be a sign your skin is over-dried – consider balancing hydration or seeking products designed for hyperhidrosis.
-
Why is GoGrip more affordable than other grips?
GoGrip’s price is set to make high-quality grip products accessible for every pole or aerial enthusiast.
While some brands (like Ocún or premium gym grips) can cost around 30 PLN per 100 ml, GoGrip offers premium performance at a fair, local price. The lower cost isn’t about quality – it’s the result of smart, efficient production in Poland and a conscious effort to keep the product affordable for regular use. -
What’s the difference between GoGrip and Sahara Grip? Which should I choose?
Both are great – they just work differently. Sahara Grip activates with heat – you apply it before warm-up, and it gets tackier as your hands warm up during training. It’s ideal if your palms start sweating later in the session. GoGrip, on the other hand, works instantly – it gives you a dry, strong grip right after application. It’s also simpler, faster, and more budget-friendly, though it may feel slightly drying with daily use.Choose Sahara if your hands get sticky mid-training, or GoGrip if you need instant dry grip from the start.
