This is not just a standard silk. It’s a versatile aerial fabric that, thanks to its width and structure, works both as a classic aerial silk and a full-size aerial hammock. With one product you get two training options without the need for additional equipment or extra fabrics. This is the European 260 cm width standard widely used in aerial studios for both silks and hammock training. Unlike narrower fabrics (around 150 cm), designed exclusively for aerial silks, this version gives you full freedom to adapt your training setup.
The silk is made from professional aerial tricot fabric used as a European standard. This type of material is valued for its stability, durability and comfortable grip, making it ideal both for aerial silk training and hammock configurations. The fabric features Low Stretch characteristics, meaning less elasticity and more predictable movement. In practice, this makes climbing easier, improves control and provides more stability during tricks.
Classic aerial silk configuration – When used as traditional aerial silks, the fabric is mounted on an figure eight and a carabiner, creating two free-hanging tails for climbs, transitions and figures. This is the standard aerial silks setup.
Aerial yoga hammock configuration – no extra accessories required. The same fabric can easily be tied into a hammock. A properly tied knot creates a comfortable and stable training setup. You don’t need any additional components beyond what’s included – the fabric and carabiner are enough. If you choose the correct length (available from 6 meters), you can freely switch between silk and hammock configurations depending on your training needs.
Acrobatic hammock – a more dynamic way to work with the fabric. The top remains mounted like a traditional silk, while both ends are tied together at the bottom at a chosen height (usually waist level). This creates a stable, wrapped structure that allows entry and acrobatic elements. Unlike a classic yoga hammock, this setup does not spread wide to the sides – it works more like a fabric “swing,” offering excellent possibilities for acrobatic training.
The 260 cm wide fabric features a weave that resists fraying and laddering during normal use, so the ends do not require hemming. This makes it extremely practical: you can shorten the material yourself to the desired length and use it both as aerial silks and a hammock. Adjust your equipment to your space and training style without additional costs or modifications.
Low elasticity means the fabric won’t feel overly “bouncy” under body weight. Movements are more predictable, climbs easier and positions more stable. Beginners will appreciate the control from the first session, while advanced users benefit from consistent performance during figures and transitions.
The set is designed so you can start training right after installation. For aerial silk configuration, you receive all components needed for safe rigging.
In hammock configuration you use the fabric and carabiner, tying the material into a knot according to the instructions and safe-use guidelines.
Choosing silk length based on room height:
For safe and comfortable training – especially at home – it’s worth adding a few extra accessories that make installation easier and improve protection during workouts.
Ceiling mount – a permanent ceiling attachment with a metal ring for clipping your carabiner. Ensures stable and secure aerial rigging.
Aerial mattress – a soft mat that cushions falls and protects joints during training. Even advanced users should train with a mat, especially for dynamic moves and higher setups. The higher the rigging, the thicker the mat recommended.
Swivel – installed between the mount and the silk, allowing smooth rotation during training. Prevents twisting of fabric and rigging hardware, improves safety and extends equipment lifespan.
In short: Low Stretch is more stable and easier for climbing and static work, while Medium Stretch offers more elasticity and supports dynamic movement and drops.
Note!
The set does not include ceiling mount.
Concrete ceiling – attach the ceiling mount using concrete anchors. Chemical anchors may also be used.
Wooden ceiling – install the mount using wood screws.
Wooden beam – you can loop a sling over the beam or use wood screws. If drilling into the beam, make sure it is not structural (supporting the roof). Structural beams must not be modified.
Steel beam – you can loop a sling over the beam or attach a mount if the beam is non-structural.
Suspended ceiling – mounting directly to a suspended ceiling is not allowed. Cut an opening and mount to the structural ceiling above.
If you are unsure how to properly install an aerial hoop, silks or other aerial equipment, contact us. The above methods are suggestions only. The installer is responsible for selecting the correct mounting solution for the conditions.
How to choose fabric length based on room height?
Adjust the fabric length to the height of the room where you will train. After rigging the silks, at least half a meter of fabric should remain on the floor on each side. If you are more advanced or want extra comfort during training, choose a silk that is 1 m longer than recommended. A longer fabric ensures you won’t run out of material during more demanding exercises.
