SportTape – tapes for wrapping aerial hoops

SportTape are cotton tapes designed for wrapping aerial hoops. They perform отлично during training. A strong adhesive and stiff cotton structure prevent the tape from rolling or shifting on the hoop.

Why wrap your hoop?

• the tape absorbs sweat, reducing slipping and improving grip,
• cotton material is gentler and more comfortable for the hands than a metal hoop surface,
• coloured tape enhances the visual appearance of the hoop.

How to remove excess adhesive? Usually tapes have a consistent amount of adhesive, but sometimes they may feel too sticky, leaving residue on the hoop. To fix this, simply wipe the hoop with chalk.

How to remove adhesive after removing the tape? The best solution is to use an industrial cleaner without acetone, which is also safe for synthetic leather and will not discolor it. It is more effective than alcohol or nail polish remover.

If the tape feels too sticky after wrapping... Some batches may contain more adhesive – this is not considered a defect by the manufacturer. To reduce stickiness on your hands, wipe the wrapped hoop with chalk (preferably powder chalk).

Why can Mueller M-Tape leave stains?

1. Zinc oxide in the adhesive – provides strong grip, but when combined with sweat and moisture it may dissolve slightly and transfer colour onto skin or clothing.
2. Intensive use and heat – during training the tape may become stickier and leave marks.
3. Deep colours – especially black and red may stain, particularly when the tape is new.

How to minimise staining?

• Use chalk – wipe the hoop before training.
• Avoid light-coloured clothing – especially with new tape.
• Regular maintenance – replace and clean the tape regularly.
• Choose alternative tapes – without zinc oxide or dedicated for aerial hoop.

You can find several tutorials on YouTube – one example is below. Remember that the bottom part of the hoop should have a double layer of tape, which is why you will need almost two full rolls. Place the hoop with the tab facing away from you and start wrapping from the “8 o’clock” position towards the right until you reach the tab, then flip the hoop and repeat.
